The story and history of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is one that is intimately tied to the hopes, dreams and determination of the people within the Diocese of Syracuse to establish an enduring symbol of their faith in central New York State. For more than one hundred years, it has proclaimed to all that would look upon her of the presence of a vast and dynamic community united in faith and dedicated to fulfilling the mission of the Church.
A Hearth of Devotion to Our Blessed Mother
Catholics throughout the Diocese of Syracuse are joined to their brothers and sisters in faith throughout the universal Church in their understanding that the pilgrimage of faith on which the Blessed Mother advanced is a model for each of us.
Restoring Our Cathedral
For more than one hundred years, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception has served an important role in the Diocese of Syracuse. Apart from being a parish of more than 600 families and a place where persons from throughout the Diocese of Syracuse gather for important diocesan events, the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception is a sign and symbol of the strength and vitality of our seven county family of faith.
